Adaptive learning tools are very helpful in the classroom. They help students become more engaged in what their learning and enhance their comprehension of the material. Examples of Adaptive learning could be sites like Diigo, google drive, or any type of concept mapping. Obviously these are not the only forms of adaptive learning but these are some effective ones that I have personally engaged in. This being said, since I have experience with some of these adaptive learning sites, I strongly feel that they are beneficial to any classroom and will definitely feel comfortable incorporating them into my own class one day.       Powerpoint is a very important and effective part of any classroom curriculum. Pretty much every teacher I have had in my educational career, has used powerpoint to teach a particular lesson. Powerpoint benefits all 6 steps of Blooms Taxonomy. The first step is remember, which is perfect for using powerpoint. Most students...

ILP "Participation" - Twitter conversation

Image
For my blog participation activity, I took part in an education-related twitter chat. I tweeted to a teacher account that I personally find very interesting and I asked them a question. I tried to make the question about technology in the classroom and then I waited for her answer. She responded with a lot of great comments that were very helpful. I really enjoy using this twitter account to better my knowledge of the teaching twitter community. I have attached a picture of the conversation below.

My experience with twitter so far has been very beneficial. I follow many teacher accounts and look at their ideas and suggestions as for my future classes. I love looking deeper into what other professionals find effective in their classrooms because it makes me excited to hopefully incorporate these things into my classroom one day. I have followed many accounts that are not just about teaching, but also include technology in the classroom. I think this has helped me during this course of this class because many topics I read about on twitter, are discussed in class.       The web page design has forced me to think outside the box and deign a website as if I was a teacher myself. This made me realize how much creative skill goes into teaching that most people do not even acknowledge. I am personally not a very creative person and I now know that this is something I need to work on before I become a teacher. I am thankful for activities like the web...

The school website that I'm looking at is Waters Edge Elementary school in Boca Raton, Florida. This is the elementary school that I attended when I was younger. On the website the students and the parents have access to the school calendar with important dates and events, news, links to important learning tools, the lunch menu, and many other aspects of the school. When you have an account and login you can access your students grades or  any announcements from your teacher.     I think technology is very important in order to communicate effectively with not only your students, but their parents as well. Especially as an elementary teacher, like I want to be, you can not always rely on your students to pass on your important announcements and concerns with their parents; that is just unrealistic. I think updating your website and online grades as frequently as possible is something that can be used in your favor. This will ensure that everything you want ...

I think an important Web 2.0 tool that would be useful in my future classroom is youtube. As a student, many of my teachers have used youtube as a learning tool and I truly think it was effective. Youtube can be used as a reinforcement tool after class when you need a little extra help grasping the lesson, or can be a visual representation of a topic in the classroom. I think it is very multi-purposeful and can improve any class. On the other hand, one Web 2.0 tool that I don't find quite as helpful, would have to be Facebook. Although social media can be used in many ways in a classroom, I do not think Facebook is as beneficial as many others.         If I had to pick a Web 2.0 tool to use in my classroom I think it would definitely be Kahoot. https://kahoot.com/welcomeback/  Kahoot is an interactive website that is set up like a game. This feature allows the whole class to interact and answer questions individually while still having...

So far I have really enjoyed my time using the class twitter account. I found one account that I really like and that I have been checking the most out of all the other accounts I follow. I quoted one of her tweets a few weeks ago and it was so perfect for the purpose of this class. This teacher used a computer program that allowed all of her students to post their answers on a database during class. This made it it easy for the teacher to have a class discussion without students being intimidated to engage in the conversation. I would have never known about programs like this if it wasn't for teacher social media such as this twitter account. This is why I'm genuinely happy that we have to use this twitter account for this class because all of these tips that I am coming across will help me when I become a teacher in the future.            The digital divide is due to the constant advancement of technology. This being ...
